Obama Excuses Wright, Sells Book

For the sake of the country, I was hoping Obama would set forth his positions, and not just continue with the same old "Grand Vision" theme.

I'm certain that the true believer Obamabots will consider today's speech as the Rosetta Stone, explaining everything.  In fact, it only raises more questions, and shows us what a creepy guy he is.  Obama has added a new level to the term "intellectually dishonest" today.  Really now, who does he think he is kidding?

His speech was an outrageous exercise in hide the ball.  If you pay attention to what Obama says in his speech, he dangles the slap down of Wright before the crowd and, as soon as the slow-minded in the crowd take the bait, he snatches it away - and excuses Wright!  His devotees are none the wiser.

"It has only been in the last couple of weeks that the discussion of race in this campaign has taken a particularly divisive turn."

Ya think, bunkie?  You've been trying to hide this Wright thing since you entered the race.  Obama, I'd say you were extremely lucky that the DNC apparatus was able to keep most of their media buffaloed into seeing that halo around you.

Because you waited until the issue blew up, it would be a compliment to call you "disingenuous."  You knew about Wright's preaching.  You said so yourself over a year ago.  You and Wright discussed that, some day in the future, you might need to distance yourself from him.

Now, that day has come, and you made the typical Democrat foul call of "UNFAIR!"  Grow some, Obama.

"I have already condemned, in unequivocal terms, the statements of Reverend Wright that have caused such controversy."

Yeah, so??? That isn't the point.  So, if you don't get it, you aren't smart enough to be President.  If you do, then you are pretty slimy.
To save your political skin, you had to say something about his hateful invective.  If you defended the particular sound bites of Wright that started this wave of controversy, you'd be a raving lunatic - like Farrakhan.

However, you never stated your positions on the social and political stances taken, and preached in the pulpit, by Wright.  You only distanced yourself from the statements that created controversy so far.  You just know there is more, so why don't you lay out your position?

"And I confess that if all that I knew of Reverend Wright were the snippets of those sermons that have run in an endless loop on the television and You Tube, or if Trinity United Church of Christ conformed to the caricatures being peddled by some commentators, there is no doubt that I would react in much the same way."

What were you doing during the two decades that Wright was d@mning Amerikkka, Obama???  Sleeping?

The video clips that were aired didn't come from some trolling media gerbil, like you might find at DailyKOS, MediaMatters, or MSNBC.  They were from the "Jeremiah Wright's Greatest Hits (against the white devils)."  What did you expect?

Were not talking about Wright's caricatures, but your character, Obama.

"In my first book, Dreams From My Father ..."

What?  A shameless plug!  How cheesy!

"I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother..."

Wait, Obama, what did your grandmother do or say that was even remotely like Wright?  It's oh, so clever to bring in "white" and "grandmother" to your defense in one fell swoop.

Don't bring my people into this, dude!  You are the one who is actively courting the black vote.  You had a lot of white folk hoodwinked by your baloney. At least he didn't diss the Asians.

"Segregated schools were, and are, inferior schools; we still haven’t fixed them, fifty years after Brown v. Board of Education, and the inferior education they provided, then and now, helps explain the pervasive achievement gap between today’s black and white students.

Legalized discrimination - where blacks were prevented, often through violence, from owning property, or loans were not granted to African-American business owners, or black homeowners could not access FHA mortgages, or blacks were excluded from unions, or the police force, or fire departments – meant that black families could not amass any meaningful wealth to bequeath to future generations. That history helps explain the wealth and income gap between black and white, and the concentrated pockets of poverty that persists in so many of today’s urban and rural communities.

A lack of economic opportunity among black men, and the shame and frustration that came from not being able to provide for one’s family, contributed to the erosion of black families – a problem that welfare policies for many years may have worsened. And the lack of basic services in so many urban black neighborhoods – parks for kids to play in, police walking the beat, regular garbage pick-up and building code enforcement – all helped create a cycle of violence, blight and neglect that continue to haunt us.

                                                                                    *   *   *

In the white community, the path to a more perfect union means acknowledging that what ails the African-American community does not just exist in the minds of black people; that the legacy of discrimination - and current incidents of discrimination, while less overt than in the past - are real and must be addressed. Not just with words, but with deeds – by investing in our schools and our communities; by enforcing our civil rights laws and ensuring fairness in our criminal justice system; by providing this generation with ladders of opportunity that were unavailable for previous generations. It requires all Americans to realize that your dreams do not have to come at the expense of my dreams; that investing in the health, welfare, and education of black and brown and white children will ultimately help all of America prosper."

So, here we see Obama setting the stage for justifying reparations, if he is elected.  What a horror.

I can't believe that Obama had the b@lls to excuse what Wright and many other blacks openly say about whites, without fear of recrimination or reproach.  They just laugh, chuckle, and holler "AMEN!"  That stuff just would not fly in white churces or white communities, no matter what.

For anyone who reads Obama's words today - really reads them - they see more smoke, more malarkey.  Playing the victim card, playing the race card, playing the underdog card, carting out his "white" "grandmother" for cover, telling us why he's going to impose crushing taxes on some of us and, worst of all, selling his book.

I'm glad that Obama's background is getting more scrutiny, and his affiliations are undergoing vetting - finally.  As I predicted, some of the Obama supporters were bound to awaken, and question their views, once they understood Wright's extreme rac!st and anti-American views.  Unfortunately, others will soldier on, making excuse after excuse for hatred and divisiveness, and pointing the finger of blame at the target of the hatred, just like Obama.

Again, it's not a matter of guilt by association, but merely a matter of raising legitimate questions about a candidate's positions, and his judgement and character in adopting or tolerating divisive views.

Obama's statement didn't answer anything, so the probing (and the heat) must continue.  What did Obama do before he was elected to office? All we really have are his books, and what precious little we are being selectively fed by Obama's machine.  We know just about every bump and wart in McCain and Clinton's pasts (not all), but Obama is still unknown.  I think it's time to turn over the rocks and see what this man's left behind.
