"Asked whether the United States could repair the damage it has suffered to its reputation during the Bush presidency and especially since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, Kouchner replied, 'It will never be as it was before.'"
No, it won't be as it was before. I don't want it to be - vulnerable and open to bullying by Islamists, socialists, communists, and religious zealots, as it has been during each Democratic President's term of office.
France has an enormous problem with its Arab community. High unemployment, frequent riots, hatred and anger toward the government. There are a lot of terrorists passing under the radar there, intermingling with decent citizens and immigrants.
France will never be as it ought to be. The magic was never there.
